The Bears only lost two games in the 2023 season but both were to the state champion Delta Panthers. Rifle fell to the Panthers 54-14 in the state championship game played in Stocker Stadium in Grand Junction. Head coach and former player, Ty Leyba, had a spectacular debut for the Bears going 11-2 on the year and playing for the championship in his first go-around.
